Bittersweet

Bittersweet was a solo dance/poem about living with PD. The choreography eventually developed into the choreography for "With Grace." I still enjoy the poem behind the piece, so I thought I would share it with you here.

Bittersweet

If this woody vine grows on your property,
take precaution—
it is a highly invasive plant.

If possible,
keep it confined to one area,
or it will spread ruthlessly,
choking all it surrounds.

You may be able to tame it
with a structure, a trellis, or a fence—
but do not allow it to grow on any tree
whose health you value.

Why the name Bittersweet?

Its roots are known to taste bitter, then sweet
when chewed.

Bitter… sweet.
Sweet…
bitter…
bitter…
sweet.
